But while the holidays are a wonderful time to decompress, many of the foods we love to enjoy this time of year &#8211; the sugary pies, sticky taffies, and hard candy canes &#8211; pose a serious threat to braces. That&#8217;s why for this blog, we want to give you some of our favorite braces-friendly holiday recipes so you can enjoy some seasonal cuisine without fear of harming your braces!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Broccoli Cheese Soup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>This creamy, delicious soup is perfect for staving off winter&#8217;s chill. To start, you&#8217;ll need:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01 3\/4 cups chicken stock<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01 onion, diced<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01\/3 cup flour<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a02 cups milk<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01 1\/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01\/2 cup Swiss cheese, shredded<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a03 cups steamed broccoli, steamed<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01\/4 cup butter<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01\/2 tsp Salt &amp; pepper<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To begin, throw the onions and the stock into a small saucepan and bring it to a simmer, letting it cook for 15-20 minutes. While that&#8217;s going, heat the milk in the microwave for 1 minute. Melt the butter in a medium stockpot, then add the flour, salt, and pepper. Stir for 2 minutes, then whisk in the warm milk. Keep stirring over medium heat for about 7 minutes until it starts to thicken, then add in the chicken stock and continue stirring until it&#8217;s blended. Finally, stir in the steamed broccoli and cheese, add a bit more salt and pepper to your liking, and serve!<\/span><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Green Bean Casserole<\/p>\n<p><span>Casserole is a holiday classic, but did you know its soft texture is also great for braces? Here&#8217;s what you&#8217;ll need:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a03 cans of French style green beans<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a02 tbsp flour<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01 cup sour cream<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a02 cups cheddar cheese, shredded<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01\/4 cup crackers, crumbled<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a03 tbsp butter<\/span><br \/>\n<span>\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a01 tsp sugar, salt, &amp; pepper<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>First, preheat your oven to 350\u00baF, then melt 2 tbsp of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted, stir in the flour and mix until it&#8217;s smooth, then cook for one more minute. Next stir in the salt, pepper, sugar, onion, and sour cream, and lastly add the green beans. Transfer the whole thing into a casserole dish, then spread your cheese over the top. Using a small bowl, mix together your crackers and 1 tbsp of butter and sprinkle the mixture on top of the cheese.
